beneath the still waters of lonely sound there lays the ruins of howland abbey, its 3000lb bell still hanging in the belfry, only swayed by the currents of the regular tides across the estuary, over 100 years since it was rang by the order of carthusian monks who lived in the nearby priory. at the turn of the last century during a heavy storm the abbey was plundered by an unknown gang of marauders, as they left on horseback carrying with them all the gold from the abbey the sea defences around lonely sound were breached, flooding the abbey, priory and the surrounding land, the monks ran for dry land as they watched their beloved bell tower disappear beneath the rising waters, unable to chase the thieves, cut off as the water rose around them. some locals say these ransackers were in league with the elements, some say they had just intentionally damaged the sea defences before making their raid. local folk-law claims that the morning bells of the abbey can be heard ring out from beneath the murky waters of the sound every year on the anniversary of the great storm, ringing the peel that was never rung.

never released before on lp, here comes the complete original soundtracks of french cult film composer françois de roubaix for director yves boisset. two movies that embody the two sides of francois de roubaix’s approach to recording. for le saut de l’ange (1971), the self-taught composer wrote an orchestration for some fifty musicians playing strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion with two distinct solo instruments alternating the main theme: indian sitar on the one hand and accordion on the other. r.a.s (1973) was recorded on a 8-track tape recorder, in françois de roubaix’s home studio rue de courcelle, where most of his 70’s scores were recorded. the result is a mix of military-march rhythms, rolls on the snare-drum with sounds of synthi aks syntheziser: de roubaix invented a modern sound for this contemporary-history tragedy.

from conrad schnitzler in the 1960s to the pioneers of detroit techno in the 1980s, experimental sonic artists were often inspired by the metallic noises of industrial factories. schnitzler wanted to recreate the sounds he heard in his apprenticeship as a locksmith with musical instruments, and the sons and daughters of the midwestern automobile-industry generation programmed the motown soul into japanese electronic music equipment. with his new piece the metal beat ep, credit 00 wants to get in line with this tradition of transforming factory sounds into music. each of the three tracks reflects on the role of the human being in an industrial environment. the never-ending movement of the machine becomes the rhythm, while the melody embodies our forlorn voices in the vastness of the factory site. the blues played by machines--modern work songs for a post-industrial society!

prolific and long-serving canadian producer fred everything is never one to rest on his laurels, but it s been no less than 10 years since he last released an album (the classic lost together on om records). now he finally returns to the long player format on his own lazy days label with the appropriately titled long way home, a widescreen exploration of his sound via all manner of styles. there s gorgeous broken beat and neo soul, slow-strutting electronic disco and modern boogie, and that s just the a side of this expansive 12inch track album. warm, immaculately produced and unafraid of embracing pop as much as underground styles, it s a masterful return from mr. everything.

for its tenth anniversary, killekill decided it is worth to resurrect the main label and bring it back in full effect with another compilation of tracks by our beloved family members, favorite artists and bestest friends. cat. number 020 was never released, and we thought, this celebratory occasion was perfect to fill that gap, so everything is cleared, and we can step into the next decade. we start off with a track by mmm, the legendary duo consisting of fiedel and errorsmith, known for pushing the boundaries with every of their very rare releases. this one is an extremely simple, but effective weapon to destroy all dancefloors with its slightly loutish appeal. neil landstrumm got together with brian rays and produced a bleeper hit with catchy vocals. we don t know who the lyrics refer to, but they definitely express a punky fuck-off attitude, which we are missing a lot nowadays.

front left records founder elad magdasi is next to appear on sinfols anagram label with four stirring cuts entitled liquid dreams this june. originally hailing from tel aviv, magdasi moved to berlin in 2013 where he has immersed himself in the scene whilst honing his craft in the studio. primarily a platform for his own productions, he launched front left records in 2015 and later debuted on anagrams phasing faces va in 2017 alongside anetha, d?vide and sinfol. he now returns to the label with a four track release of his own. liquid dreams opens the release with a mesmerizing spoken word sample, twinkling melodies and layered atmospherics whilst sporadic hats rattle throughout. thudding kicks, escalating synths and quivering bass then combine together in water damage before moving into the mesmerizing silver lights, which conjures up an otherworldly aesthetic courtesy of arpeggiated notes and crashing cymbals. lastly, never let go exhibits a cacophony of elements such as crystalline chords and a meandering bassline that generate a heightening suspense from start to finish.

british dj/producer bearface has been on a bit of a roll of later. aside from releases on his own beartone label, the london-based label owner has also found time to deliver outstanding cuts to the likes of exploited ghetto, which housed his last release, the wonderful moon . this time around, he comes correct on his own beartone label with a record that s notable for its quirky demeanour and undoubted eclecticism. opening up the release is the sounds of mumbai nights . although it gets us underway in fairly innocuous fashion, it quickly finds its feet thanks to a brilliant, whaling indian-inspired vocal that weaves in and out throughout. a whimsical track of that sort that s sure to be a hit with more daring djs, it s an auspicious start to a release that s never lacking in personality. as is his forte, bearface then goes much deeper in search of kicks on data storm , taking us taking us down the rabbit hole to a place that s full of enticing oddities throughout. after this, the frankly bonkers sound of the electro-leaning title track sista take centre stage. a thoroughly intense peak-time workout, it s full of attitude and an indication of the producer s more gnarly and abrasive approach. all things considered, it s sure to get the night moving in an altogether different direction wherever it s unleashed. closing out the ep is the drum heavy sounds of march . a broody track that s tailor made for the night s more relentless moments, it s a a fitting way with which to sign off an eclectic and dizzying release. the latest chapter in the beartone story is a captivating listen throughout.

this is a masterpiece. beautiful, golden-era soul written by leon sylvers iii, produced by jerry butler and keg johnson. . the sylvers were a family from los angeles who were very successful during the 70’s and into the early 80’s, with chart hits – deep into pop-disco territory by then! – including ‘boogie fever’, ‘hot line’ and ‘high school dance’. this is the groups second album, from 1973, and is one of their strongest. opening with the awesome mid-tempo ‘we can make it if we try’ the record moves through funk, boogie and deep soul moods, finishing on a hazy, acapella version of the beatles ‘yesterday’.

the ep -a form of travel unknown to humans- is chasing us. guiding and forcing a way simultaneously. the sound is harsh but has an immaculate precision to it –void of air- compelling the listener toward a light, seducing us to tear through the night. we enter with „s.m.o.d. – sticks- a deep and magnetic sound opening up slowly, starting to breathe and to merge into -s.m.o.d. – cell culture- which gives a much more metallic flavour but never the less beat driven – fast and strident- maybe even hasty, pushing to skip a beat of the heart. to finish off with -s.m.o.d – pulse- carrying an unsettling almost disturbing quality, formulating a mechanical sound alienated from the human experience. the ep creates a seductive space outside our comfort zone, inviting to explore a space and travel unknown to humans. gimme more.

klas henrik lindblad better known as sasse or freestyle man has been a friend of our label for many years and also released together with dorian for our raum musik compilation in 2005. soul sounds without any doubt still is one of his absolute masterpieces and he was never willing to do anything with it and just let it rest in peace until the idea came up to re release it for our label. usually we are not licensing or re releasing anything but sasse and especially this track of him definitely deserve it. as it is also our 20 years anniversary we got one of our key artists on board that has been playing the track again a lot recently and that also immediately liked the idea of remixing this track and this is the result now. we are happy to present you the original track of sasse plus two remixes by our dear friend ricardo villalobos and label head dorian paic together. enjoy !

“vain” marks the prodigal return of venezuelan artist carlos giffoni to the avant-electronic music scene he was instrumental in shaping with the seminal, hybridising no fun fest and no fun productions label, which was home to debut releases by oneohtrix point never and noveller, and classics from haswell and prurient during the late 00s to early part of this decade. carlos’ first new release in 6 years, “vain” was drawn from hundreds of hours of improvisations made at carlos malibu studio, the final lp describes a tumultuous narrative in affective abstract swells and pulsating rhythms that trigger curious sensations and emotions ever familiar to his variegated, extreme, yet essentially organic output.

with his solo project jesus is my son, gregory duby, a guitarist from the belgian black country, explores since 2005 another side of his expanded tastes in music. after years in noise-rock bands (the invisible frog, k-branding) both bands being under influence of metal and industrial music, jesus is my son is  clearly on the classical guitar side of things. except you can never forget and always feel the intensity of duby s heavier practice in the soft and peaceful innocence , sometimes in its almost threatening tension, sometimes in its profoundly melancholic relief. on the b-side, insouciance has an oriental feel to it, a lighter face: recklessness after a crash or smiling distraction before a tempest.

in 2013 casey tucker was thrust into the limelight after 15 years in the shadows. never truly getting the recognition for is detroit influenced and post rave sound in the 90s, for those that knoe reissued some of caseys classic material and unearthed some gems on dat in 2013. fast forward to the current day and a recent treasure trove was uncovered and some fresh dats untouched since the late 90s were discovered! ben promptly bought a dat player on ebay and shipped it to casey s home for the un-dusting to commence. fttk has worked with casey to present another round of authentic material for this final installment (maybe) of his classic productions

fina records welcome jad & the for a new ep that shows off the australian-born, berlin-based producer’s majestically melodic house sound. a special dub from 6th borough project makes this another essential release. before now jad & the has served up tracks of the year (‘strings that never win’ - mixmag 2017), fronted four piece live act mitzi—who played alongside the likes of nile rodgers—and also produced as jad & the ladyboy, all the while picking up fans like moxie and bradley zero. sonar kollektiv and toy tonics have put out his charming sounds before and this new one is another joyous offering. the feel good ‘2 getha (4 eva mix)’ kicks things of with old school drum breaks and loved-up vocals. big smeared pads, a new age melody and classic bassline line finish it off and carry you away to summery house heaven. ‘twist club’ then drops into lush deep house with a long legged bassline tumbling beneath organic drums. it’s a dreamy and romantic cut before ‘disco hold down’ has live sounding jazz drums, choppy vocals and rough edges that take you to the heart of a vibe-fulled basement party. delusions of grandeur’s 6th borough project serve up a dub that’s more stripped back and built on a big rubber bassline. jacking drums and a more rapturous vocal make it a truly steamy jam.

brother and sister eric and arrontette mcclinton had been recording for many years. around 1976 they did a 45 release together on honey records called -where you are- under the their christian names, although eric was spelled eryke! the single didn’t have much success but both brother and sister still went on to be amazing backing singers working for legendary producers mike theodore and dennis coffey. whilst they were under the watchful eye of the production team they recorded some material again and a duo for theo/coff in a bid to get them another record deal and show their capabilities. these songs never got releases. eric became and prolific song writer and also joined the group high fashion. we are super pleased to finally release the shelved songs from 1978. this in one of two releases by the duo.
